This is beautiful, Margerie!

Have you tried the AI mode in Lumix? I now used AI to shoot a test shot first with a subject like an insect. Thereafter, I go manual, which yields 300 dpi images - good for publishing. The disadvantage of AI mode (and portrait mode that you have used for this shot) is they come in 72 dpi - not all that good for printing.

When I started with my Lumix in Dec, 2007 I wasn't so adept at manual photography and relied almost exclsuively on 'AI' going for the quick and dirty approach.

If you leave a distance of 3-4 ft from the subject and zoom in to the maximum in AI mode and focus a close subject such as a flower/butterfly you still can get the background to blur and subject to stand out well.
